Question for Chinese citizens or people who live in China

Question for Chinese citizens or people who live in China?
Are the Evangelical-bushist propagandas about the growth Christianity real? How many Christians are there in China? They're more than Taoists or Buddhists? Is really Christianity destroying the Chinese culture as it did with the European Pagan Roots?

Interesting question! Why don't you ask it in the Religions and Spirituality section? We are simple people here, we only deal with mundane things like travel....

I don't know about christianity destroying Chinese culture. The communists tried and failed. Missionaries are limited in China (yay!). That being said, there are millions of christians here, though hardly a big part of the population. China and Japan just don't get into christianity (yay!) the way the opportunists in South Korea. I doubt if it will have much of a chance for many years (yay!).

There aren't much christians in China so I doubt their destroying the chinese culture by any much then the Catholics are. I believe there is more Taoists in China (mostly on the mainland) but everywhere else I'm not sure.

95% of the population is buddhist, according to what I have heard so you do the math as to whether there are more Christians than Buddhists or whatever. Asian people do NOT want to emulate the USA or other western country, with all their problems, so WHY would they want to convert to Christianity?

Most of the people I know here are agnostic. They think that all westerners are Christians and are surprised when I tell them we are not.

1 - no, it's real 2 - it is really not countable b/c many people do not take part in the govt. sponsored churches so there are uncountable numbers in non-govt. churches. It depends on how you define the terms as well, there are many people in the world who would say they are Christian but never go to church, same with Taoists and Buddhists, it's just a label b/c mom and dad were. there are lots of "estimates" out there and that is about as good as it will get 3 - I love it when people say Christianity destroys culture, no it is not I have lots of Chinese friends who are "Believers" and there is even a new branch of the church developing called the 3rd wave, read about it on yahoo news or something like that
