Foreigners who speak English & live in China mainly only reside in the larger Chinese cities, such as Beijing or Shanghai. There, there are many college & even high school students who are foreign (these schools are International Schools). You see many foreigners in Shanghai-tons. They're everywhere you go in the larger cities. As for a normal city in China, you probably won't find that many foreigners. There will always be a couple of tourists, but never residing foreigners in the smaller cities. Also, QQ is only used by Chinese people, most foreigners don't even know about that website. If you want an online relationship with a foreigner, try using MSN or Yahoo-these are as popular to them as QQ is to you :) good luck

Hi 'Ivan'. I'm an English guy and teach English. I worked in China for a couple of years and I now have the same attitude as Chinese people have. I DO NOTHING FOR NOTHING! Chinese dont work for free why should we? WOULD YOU?

Ivan, if you have a PC and fairly good connection speed maybe you could find a native English speaker in the West who would like to learn Chinese. You could teach them Chinese they in turn teach you English through computer using mike and or video link. Iâ€™m not sure the best way to go about this sorry to say. There is one thing you could try. Log on to Craigslist and advertise that you are looking to practice English and teach Chinese from online. Here is a link to Los Angeles USA Craigslist â€œLearningâ€ area. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/cal/#classes You could try other large cityâ€™s in Canada or USA too. I would think someone would be interested in doing this with you. There is no cost or obligation to use Craigslist. Good luck!

EDIT My name means "Arrow" or more specifically, Lord Shiva's Arrrow. Lord Shiva is a character in Hindu mythology and is called the God of Destruction, Chaos but also, COOL, calm. Yes. I have a Chinese name. A few years ago I went and had a Feng Shui master check my "ba gua" and told me my name wasn't good, it didn't have enough water in it, so he gave me a new one. The last name stayed the same. åº·é¸¿ç†¹

yes, three times in Wuhan. but very slightly.

I'm living in Beijing and haven't been affected with the earthquake yesterday. I was so curious and asked my friend who lives in Guangzhou, north of China... she said she didn't feel it either. So in China, it just happened around Sichuan, while other countries like Thailand etc was affected.

I was not, but, a friend in Sichuan had to spend the night in a car and had lots of aftershocks, she is ok, my heart aches for the school students the school that collasped in Dujiangyan

I just called my father who has business in Shanghai and he felt it.

I've not been effected, but my flatmate has family living 3 hours by bus Northwest of Chongqing, so I'm a bit worried for her, specially as shes ill at the moment.

Still feel after shocks in Chongqing District Yongchuan yesterday we had the bigger one broke a few things in my apartment but no big damage,we lost all the phones for about 2 hours even mobiles went out.I could see there towers shaking on buildings and no TV until late last night.

At 3.30pm today the earth began to shake............. I was having a rest and first the bed began to shake gently. this is not unusual with a lot of heavy traffic past my back door everyday and the blasting on constructions sites but this increased until the boxes on top of my wardrobe began to shake. I got up to have a look outside from my balcony. Buy now the floor was moving enough to convince me that I needed to get out of the building. I quickly checked what I was wearing, grabbed my key, slipped into my thongs and was heading down the stairs with another elderly couple who were wakened from an afternoon nap. Other residents already downstairs were hurrying away from the buildings. Looking up we could see them shaking and debris and dust was falling. Several men were trying to push the gates to the street open -these are padlocked for security reasons but cannot be opened in a hurry. I climbed over the six foot fence wearing a sarong wrap but the elderly and those with babies could only wait until the metal gave way on one of the bolts on the pair of gates. No serious damage, a few first time experiences for some. this was my second earthquake and subsequent tremors.

I was, the floors and ceilings were shaking while I was getting my paychecks, then I rushed from 24th floor down to hall, then out on street.

My extended family live in Chengdu and Deyang, two cities very close to the epicenter. I was worried all yesterday, and have just received word from them that they are all safe. I am overjoyed that they are not hurt, but extremely saddened at the same time by the enormous loss of lives. I hope that the number of casualties will not rise much more.

anonymouse- useful as it was at the time- as now been blocked and i can't even go on youtube without my internet being disabled! if anyone knows websites that get around the 'great firewall of china' i would be eternally grateful

By connecting through your computer to do the crime, they ensure that your IP address gets logged as the place where the hack originated. Then they sit in some far away land, stealing credit cards, ordering goods with those cards, or even planning some other crime, all in your name. When hackers set up an open proxy, the term 'Hacker Pot' is used. It comes from a similar term called a 'Honey Pot'. A Honey Pot is a server, set up by government agencies or security professionals, to entrap people who are looking for free proxies. Many hackers have been tracked down through the use of such machines. However, even if all you are trying to do is unblock your favorite social site, you have reason to be concerned. Most web sites that recommend free proxies are full of Honey Pots. Even if you do nothing illegal while accessing this machine, you are committing a federal felony. The reason is that unauthorized access of a government computer is a felony in itself and you can go to jail for it. They don't have to announce to you that this machine is a government computer. Since you are accessing the computer without permission, you are breaking the law. It's your responsibility to know where you are connecting to. Is it worth having the FBI knock on your door some day by using a free proxy? The bottom line is, using a free proxy server is pretty much guaranteed to have your identity stolen, allow your computer to be taken over or put you in violation of federal law.
