American born Chinese,do you think you can live in China

American born Chinese,do you think you can live in China?
Recently I went to China and after knowing the laws of the country I got scared and can't wait to leave. Considering that it is such a close minded comunist country.Do you think that after being born and live your whole life in America, can you go and live in China?

I'm not an ABC, but my husband is. We have lived in China for the past five years, along with our two young children. I lived in China for two-and-a-half years prior to that. The government and the people are two separate entities. We're involved in education and we enjoy being a part of the change from within.

I don't know which part of China you went to because I loved living with my relatives there. I'm an ABC and proud to say so. No Facebook/YouTube just means that I need to deal with a little less distraction in my life (which is better for my studies anyways =P). I felt no difference living there, except perhaps for the cultural norms at times and the language (it's embarrassing to order Pepsi in English out of habit when you're at a Chinese KFC...) at times. Are you sure your evil aunt didn't just impose a few crappy rules on you (like no going out after 10 PM) and now you're pissed off at the country?

China is rapid grow and could surpass U.S. economy in decade or 2. Jobs market is not good in U.S. many actually when to China to work there. Opportunity is growing there. Is important that you can speak good chinese if you want live there. Is a win win situation for you because if U.S. economy is worser, china is good plan B.

I understand your concerns. I am not ABC, I'm a CAT. I'm living in China, but like you, I'm also terrified and I am scared. I once got catnapped by some drunken government officials in Beijing, luckily I have sharp claws and scratched one of the culprits, accidentally ending his life. I did it on self defense but the government wants to cage me and put me to sleep. I'm out on bail right now, I hope my master doesn't put me to sleep.

There are some good things and bad things about China. That realization differs from person to person depending on individual views and experience. My first experience in China was a total wreck, but I managed to lower my standards and expectation and try to "blend in". As for the laws, the lack of it, and the "too much" of it can be bothersome. I've lived in China for some time now. I get by, somehow, but still, there's no place like home.
